Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Night and Weekend Circulation Desk Coordinator supports circulation desk functions, building safety, and student employee assistance during nights and weekends. Responsibilities include patron services, emergency response, and operational oversight.
- Processes fines and fees payments in person, by mail, and online.
- Resolves fines and fees disputes, and follows up on long overdue accounts.
- Creates, updates, and corrects patron records in the Library management system.
- Assists in administering the User card program(s); collects the fees, creates patron accounts, and creates Library ID cards.
- Assists student employees from all Library areas with any issues, including policy and procedures questions, security concerns, and providing desk coverage to other units as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Four (4) years of Library Assistant experience with High School or equivalent certification; OR
- Three (3) years Library Assistant experience with equivalent to an Associate’s Degree (60 units); OR
- Two (2) years Library Assistant experience with equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree (120 units) in job related field required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in circulation operations and patron account management, including processing fines and fees, resolving disputes, and maintaining accurate records in the Library management system. Ability to apply sound judgment in handling sensitive patron issues and ensures consistent application of library policies and procedures.
- Exhibits strong organizational and interpersonal skills to coordinate student employee schedules, monitor front desk activities, and support library operations during nights and weekends. Effectively communicates with staff and patrons, responds to emergent situations, and maintains a safe and welcoming environment throughout the Library building.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of emergency response procedures and building safety protocols, including evacuation coordination, incident reporting, and communication with campus authorities.
- Exhibits strong decision-making and situational awareness skills to resolve building-related incidents such as noise complaints, environmental issues, and security concerns.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: Library Services Spec III / 2888 / Grade 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4162 - $4725 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4162 - $7673 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Sunday through Thursday, including evenings and weekends.
- The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
- This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
